Information for Presenters

How to Tessellate in 5 easy steps

  1. Choose a book that interests you from any area of science. If you need inspiration, see our growing list of suggestions. If a book is too much, you can also choose an article or topic which is reasonably accessible to a general audience. If you don’t want to present alone, feel free to form a partnership or team. Don’t forget to sign up on the schedule. In case of any questions, please contact us.
  2. Read the book (or article/topic). This is the hardest part but you can do it 😉
  3. Prepare a digestible summary of the main concepts in the book. Most people find it easiest to do this in the form of slides, but a verbal presentation is also completely fine. Each Book Club is limited to an hour including discussion, which means that your summary should be a maximum of about 30 minutes in total. You can let the discussion be free and informal, or structure it with specific questions or topics. A moderator, either appointed by you or self-appointed, will keep the discussion on track so that you can stay focused in the content. Remember that no one expects you to be an expert on the topic and it’s OK if you didn’t understand everything in the text—we are learning together.
  4. Present your summary at the Book Club and lead a relaxed wine-fueled discussion with the help of the moderator.
  5. Bask in the glory of having Tessellated!
